![]() Sometimes, because a particular arsenal or strategy is powerful and/or prevalent enough, having a counter that is dead useless in other matchups is worth it. Using Orb is like having an insurance policy against erase decks, sometimes you will have to pay by playing against decks that aren't hurt by Orb, but it will pay off anytime you shrug off a Dragon Slayer. You can throw an Orb in a deck and almost completely forget enemy erase decks exist. The power to ignore an entire archetype at the cost of one skill and one skill button is a powerful one. The best use of Orb is in a a deck that abuses it. Orb makes the all erase skills useless, and turns Heat From Void into a mediocre skill. Dragon Slayer -> Lack is devastating, especially when the caster is packing Heat From Void. Despite this, it is a very efficient counter to a lot of erase decks. It isn't something you see in every deck that has nature in it, and it isn't extremely prevalent. Orb is very good, but only situationally so. This was one of the most difficult slots for me. When it shines however, it's brighter than your average environmental. It makes this a lot worse Memory Lapse requires a lot of effort and support from the rest of the arsenal to shine. Seal of Death also can't be consumed by Memory Lapse and is a reasonable attack skill.ĭespite all of this, I can't ignore how everyone is using Reincarnation themselves. Reincarnation is effectively multiple use, but doesn't care about Memory Lapse because of the keyword 'retain' all retain skills work nicely with Memory Lapse). Sometimes you can place this in an unreachable location and then go do your laundry or something because your opponent's deck won't have 20 damage available to it.ĭon't you have to have a way to win yourself though? Of course, but it's not as hard as it seems. The destruction this environmental causes is disgusting. Most good environmentals change the way the game is played, and Memory Lapse is most definitely the rule and not the exception. This is my opinion, and it is very open to discussion. The Phantom Dust community is awesome and mature so I don't expect this - but this is the internet, so: I am not speaking from a position of authority I am not omniscient. I don't write anything on each skill specifically beyond the top 10 (except one). This is including the most recent skill update.īelow the top ten, are two more tiers of Honorable Mentions that will list the next top 26 skills in no particular order. There is a bias towards 1v1 in this post. Please note that this does not include the online skills, as I do not have enough experience with all of them to make judgements I am confident in. So I decided to just do the Top X skills in Phantom Dust for this edition in hopes that I don't burn your eyes out. I'd be interested to know how this goes on iGPUs, the game is old enough that a GTX 650 seems like overkill and more listed for the DirectX support than actual performance requirements, but I could be wrong.Preface: In writing this, I realized that what I had promised for the next post would be so ridiculously long.
